I remember my friend praising this thing when I let him use it as being very precise. I would think the signal conversion is very basic since it should just be taking one wire and parsing it to a different one, maybe with a small microcontroller doing the lifting (no actual logic, just muxing the different signals so they go where they need to).

This old Radioshack PSX to USB adapter working was a pleasant surprise. I have fast polling turned on but no idea what the latency is.
