The only big conversion I know of is one for SF1 that changes some things around. Like Mae dying at the start and you getting Varios instead. Among some other things. But I imagine most of that is a recolour so to speak, given that it swaps some characters around.
Then again it is probably just easier to imagine your ideal ending more than it is to try and mod one in for real.

Didn't SF change lead artists for just about all the games? As far as I know both 1 and 2 have different artists, as did 3. Unless I'm wrong of course.
If you mean the change after Camelot where the guy only kinda tried to stick to the old stuff with Neo and to some degree Exa and Feather, before just drawing scantily clad elves for the entire party, then yes tho.
