X'Eye sounds just as good just slightly different and actually plays Sega CD games reliably

While we're on the subject, OP had a 2nd-gen X'Eye/Wondermega. This is what the first-gen looks like.

Some of the Wondermega units had Sega branding, most had Victor branding. As far as I know all X'Eyes had JVC branding only. All these JVC/Victor units had improved audio over the original Genesis.

Aiwa made a Genesis/Sega CD combo that was built into a large, round boombox.
