this is the answer im liking best so far, possibly in addition reducing health and ammo drops in order to further incentivize the player to use his sidearm when possible. But then i would become concerned with the player just using the pistol to print as many drops as he needs. With regular health pickups, theres only so much in a level, and that puts a good incentive on the player to not take hits.
