He probably meant Japanese creators who worked with him like Ryuhei Kitamura and Project Itoh. Snatcher has a huge cult following in Japan. It was pretty heavily advertised when it was released on 8-bit computers and was one of the more successful PC Engine titles.

It's pretty unique for an 8-bit RPG. You can see enemies on the map and the combat system allows you to aim at specific body parts. It's kinda breakable though. The story is very different too.
