Imo, no, not really at all. It was extremely novel back when people were ignorant it was a DBZ rippoff in the states and just felt like you unlocked "god mode" like how you get the wing cap in Mario 64 or other cheat codes in other games. When it became story related it slowly but surely became predictable and if all else, part of the downfail of Sonic's image over the years.

When a stupid reference becomes the face as to when fans "hype" up the overall game despite the gameplay being cancer, that's when you know you fucked up your game series' priorities. But even if we just stick to classic Sonic gameplay, I find it rather pointless since the entire point of Sonic back then wasn't just raw speed, no matter how many fucking zoomers seethe about it otherwise, speed is just part of the equation, you need momentum where you take that speed and move any which direction you please, while keeping the flow from doing so. Super Sonic just trivializes that, if not just makes it needlessly more awkward to do so. I prefer just playing as normal Sonic and mastering that version of him instead.
