What do you think FFVIII is about?

This is not about the plot synopsis. I am asking for your interpretation of the story. Its meaning. What the writing and imagery is trying to convey, what it is symbolic of.

I mean, it doesn't have much in terms of gameplay, and we've heard the same comments about the draw system a million times already. How about we have fun for once? Note that "Squall is dead" and "Rinoa is Ultimecia" is not very interesting unless you work it into your reading of the game as a whole.
