Darkstalkers 1 was #4 for 1994.

Vampire Savior was #5 for 1997.
All 3 games hit their year's top 5. And befor you try to say that Japanese aracdes are an insignificantly small market, during the years the Darkstalkers series was being released, it was generating revenues nearly identical to that of the American console game market of the time.

Night Warriors is better than Vampire Savior.

Granted, this isn't exactly an unpopular opinion in Japan, but the Darkstalkers fandom that has sprung up outside of Japan over the past few years only seems to only care about Savior (and those are the good ones...the bad ones seem to care more about fanart, crossovers, and comics more than the games themselves).
