Strange, to me dkc (especially 2) was the gold standard for making a game fun to 100%. All the collectibles are placed is a neat path and flow with the fastest route through a level. I like the returns game but too often the answer is 'go left for secret'. If I had to nominate a game for being less fun to 100% I'd say yoshis island. Its astonishing how anti fun trying to fully clear even a single levels is compared to the base game. Who wants to run a level multiple times just because you missed a single slightly different coloured coin? Or because you got hit once trying to grab that coin? Or because you missed the window to grab it? God its so awful.

I'm actually trying to play through all the games released this year (or at least as much as I can) in order to answer this very question. Here's what I've played through and beaten so far:
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (9/10)
Comix Zone (8/10)
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (8/10)
Earthworm Jim 2 (8/10)
Vectorman (7/10)
Mega Man 7 (7/10)
Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dreams (7/10)
The King of Fighers '95 (7/10)
Ristar (6/10)
Mega Man X3 (6/10)
Fatal Fury 3: Road to the Final Victory (6/10)
Kirby's Dream Land 2 (6/10)
Donkey Kong Land (4/10)

I thought Ristar was okay, but the movement is a little too slow for me to fully enjoy it, and there were some frustrating levels.
Rayman is what I happen to be playing through right now, and I'm kinda getting my ass kicked. I have a policy against using cheats or save states, so the 99 lives are off the table for me. That said, this is the first game that's making me regret having that policy a little bit. Honestly, every time I think I've beaten what I think must be the hardest game of 1995, an even tougher one like this comes along. I won't allow it to filter me, though, because I'm still enjoying myself with it.

Just played through to the end of this GOAT for the first time. Probably the greatest 2D platformer ever created in my objective opinion. You will not find a better one.
