Honestly, nowadays I like Pokemon way more for the battle system than the adventure part of it, yeah, a Pokemon RPG on the N64 would have been nice (especially considering the system lacked titles in that genre) but why I prefer the Stadium games much more is because they focus on the combat with tougher challenges (and using either Rental or your own mons also give some different options and difficulty on the battles)..
Yeah, it can get repetitive because the game is just "battle after battle and nothing else", but if you like Pokemon's battling system, diverse challenges like the ones found in the Stadium Cups or much harder fights in the Gym Leader Castles, these games (specially 2) are perfect for that.
