>shotgun-sounding mechanical *chk chk* sfx intensifies
The sound design of the Exotic weapons is fukin dumb copypastas of the other guns even when it makes no sense at all. I guess another symptom of large parts of the endgame portion of the game being unfinished. I think the Crystal Shard also shares sfx with the Laser Rapier but it's been a hot minute since my last Energy Weapons playthrough (EMP rifle was god tier vs the mechs).

That said, the Annelid Launcher is pretty good in The Body of the Many, too bad you only get it literally right before then and then you can't even use it on Shodan's virtual level because all Exotic shit becomes useless.

I just finished this playthrough with the Psi/Exotic/Worm Armor memes and it's just not that viable - Psi is not strong enough without investing literal hundreds of cyber modules into it and its functionality is clunk city. I only managed to make it to Psi level 3 with a few abilities in levels 1,2 and 3. Psi level 4 and 5 would have required like 150 cyber modules that I just didn't have because I had to get Research to 5, Maintenance to 4, Exotic to 6, Standard to 3 (otherwise no Pistol/Shotgun for robots etc) among other shit. I guess you would go Standard 3 and then max Psi if you were doing a real Psi build, but it's just not fun enough to warrant it, half of the abilities are ultra situational and the other half are underwhelming, and when they're ultra situational it just adds to the clunky menuing of selecting certain spells.

Exotic Weapons are actually fun to rape spiders and rumblers with (spiders especially, since Annelid Mode on them can't hurt yourself and they tend to swarm you). The Worm Armor draining Psi isn't as much of a problem as you would think (at least in the latest SS2 community patch version, which may actually change how it works), but if you're using Psi a lot you're spending all your nanites on Psi Hypos, especially if you need Psi points for the worm armor too.
