Well yeah, a well-designed arena with lots of cover as a boss-style encounter? That's awesome. Hell, I've seen people put Archviles in rooms in Doom 1 and I had an absolute blast.

But a blank, ordinary sewer corridor with no cover, just a room to run into and suck your thumb in? While 3 Archviles come from both directions? It's about as fun as trying to pull out a splinter from under your toenail. Even if you do it right and succeed, you'll be pretty fucking miserable before and after.
