Garou has to be the most balanced fighting game I've ever played; the "overpowered" combos in it are nearly always setups and Just Defend feels more natural than parrying (and you can fuck it up way worse since if you just spam back you'll end up backdashing which can kill you). IIRC the only balance issue is Tizocs being useless because the opponent can force his throws to whiff with a game bug.

Yeah, Garou in Survival mode is extremely fucking fun, I think I played it in that mode way more than in Arcade. It also makes the AI have normal healthbars even on max difficulty (in Arcade, they have more health), and you have to beat every single character not just half the cast.

And if you play the console versions (not the MVS where survival is a cheat code), you can also pick smaller TOP bars, 1/3rd (normal setting) gives you 1.25x damage boost, 1/6th gives 1.5x and 1/12th gives 1.75x at which point a landing a P-power super does like 80% damage. In survival mode you can get your health refilled to max easily, so you can abuse the mega damage combos a lot.

Only real problem I have with the game is that since it maxed the Neogeo hardware out so much, it has a ton of slowdown which actually screws up the timing of many moves. I can only do the Neo Deadly Rave on Freemans and Gatos level which have less slowdown due to less background animations/layers.
