I'm a save scummer by nature and apparently this doesn't have many checkpoints. Is this going to kick my ass?

Not great or amazing, just good and worth playing.

man, the goofy gothic athmosphere in this game is great, do you guys know of any /vr/ games with a similar feel?

This and the sequel was pretty much my go-to for Saturday afternoons in middle and high school

I don't really see a Halloween specific thread up.
What are you guys playing for October? Pic related for me.
I'm loving it, but my only gripes are the camera and its controls AND I collected a Chalice in The Sleeping Village, but it doesn't have a check mark next to the Chalice Icon on the map, so it's as if I didn't collect one. Could this be a bug? I AM playing on a PS2.

Anyone else play this as a kid? I really loved it, but I doubt it's aged very well. It's basically Halloween, the game, and Halloween was my favorite holiday growing up.

Why did this series die after only two games, /vr/?

I'm not counting MediEvil: Resurrection because that was an attempted revival of the series after it had already died five years before its release. Key phrase being "ATTEMPTED revival".

This. The sequel is God tier too.

Halloween games? Not just horror games, games that actually make you think Halloween when you play them.

My favorite game, Period. I can't recommend this enough.
