I still can't comprehend the difference between light and dark spell schools in MMVII. While they do have some similar spells, when comparing those dark always comes out better.

Prismatic Light: only works indoors, damage is 25+1*skill
Souldrinker: works everywhere, heals the whole party, deals 25+[1_8]*skill

Sunray: only works outdoors (which means it's barely useful anywhere), 20+[1_20]*skill, damages one unit
Dragon Breath: works everywhere, deals [1_25]*skill damage, explosive effect

Divine Intervention: heal all damage and mana, but ages the caster 10 years and can be cast 3 times a day
Sacrifice: same except no side effects/restrictions, albeit it costs a hireling and reduces reputation (which doesn't matter in dungeons). The fact that dark school has pretty much the same spell is alone surprising.

I understand that light was supposed to be "defensive" school while dark was an "offensive" one, but still the difference is just huge.
