When it comes to connecting a PC to a CRT-TV, nothing short of a signal converter + crt_emudriver setup is worth your money or trouble. It's not just the signal conversion

Those cheap cable adapters can at best force a blurry downscale from your native higher resolution, it's not gonna magically adapt your output resolution to what it should be. In short, it's not gonna look nowhere near what you're expecting from a "true CRT TV setup". Might as well just play on your laptop's screen.

If you're determined to get the most of your favorite CRT-TV, here's a few links:

>VGA to Component cables/Transcoder:
- Retrotek VGACTV1 (https://www.ebay.ca/itm/VGA-to-Component-Transcoder-Retrotek-VGACTV1-/192116647418?_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l10137&nordt=true&rt=nc&orig_cvip=true))
Probably the easier one to find. Comes in a nice metal box. Expensive.
- Keep an eye on the eBay seller "linuxbot3000". He doesn't have anything listed at the moment, but he sold a much cheaper and smaller alternative, much better if you plan to keep it inside your PC and not as an additional box.

(I have both. Both work exactly the same)

If you don't currently own a CRT-TV you plan to use, it's easier if you just get a CRT PC monitor and skip all the cable/transcoder issues.

Uh, I had one similar to that lying around at my parents house and connected an old laptop to an old CRT TV I have on my room there...

It "works", I guess. You CAN play games on it. But if I hadn't had it at hand in the first place I wouldn't have spent money on it. It sucks.

The lowest resolution it'll let me go is 480p, which when shrunken down to a lower res S-Video signal looks BLURRY. Color fidelity is all wrong (everything looks blown out, and I mean REALLY blown out, not just the usual /vr/ autistic standars... whole color ranges are lost, must adjust color setting on video card panel just to make movies watchable). Also, the refresh rate can't be changed and is way too low for videogames, expect lots of tearing.

I say, if you're going to spend money, spend it on something that's at least made for your specific usecase. Check pic related ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/192116647418?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT ), I got it recently and I'm going to test it next time I visit my parents' house where the rest of the setup is.
