Do you remember anything about the site it was originally posted on? All I can find canceledwise is a Sega Retro scan of "Blaster Master" being listed for an upcoming Japanese release that never happened in a Mega Drive magazine, and Nintendo Power claiming that it was supposed to be released on SNES.

Funny thing is that Nintendo at first tried to present the timeline as if it just was their own theory, stating that story details aren't set in stone and are always subject to change, almost as if it comes from the POV of a Hyrulean historian making close guesses, but not enough people read the fine print and so they dropped that pretense later on.
