The peak of the Star Soldier series. Provides probably the most challenge out of most console SHMUPs.

>Raiden
Not quite a bullet hell, but is hard without a turbo button. Even with a turbo button, you will get killed until you can learn the patterns and establish optimal placements.

>Galaga '88/'90
It introduces new elements without stepping away from the well established mechanics.

>Dragon Spirit
It's very uniform at it's core but the overall theme of evolving a dragon through powerups and finding your balance is a great change of pace from the more common jet/space fighter SHMUPs.
