Now that I'm an adult, I cringe at the thought of playing anything in this genre.

I need a turn based rpg where I make my own party. That's the only requirement, it can be as bare-bones as necessary.

I was gonna play pic related, but could only get the remake working on my phone and I hate it's aesthetic.

Since this seems to be the main FF thread atm.

Which version of Final Fantasy III should I play? It's one of the few I haven't touched and I want to know which version you guys consider to be the best.

How should I play the Final Fantasy series? I plan on starting with Origins, but after that? I've heard the DS remake of III isn't very good.

Basically I'm just looking for the definitive versions of each game in the FF series according to /vr/.

Is this game (FF3) the worst game in the series? I just played the NES rom. I've played every other game in the series and was floored by how bad it was. It was somehow less polished than the original game.

-Ridiculous, literal artificial difficulty. Dungeons where you have to be a midget or a toad. Dungeons where you have to use multiples of a certain class (Dragoon and Mystic Knight).

-Wildly varying difficulty. Sometimes the game is trivial, sometimes its overwhelmingly difficult. Random encounters are exponentially harder than the bosses. Boss fights are actually totally trivial.

-Tiniest inventory I can ever recall in a FF.

-Job system is almost totally pointless as there are clear, obvious upgrades. Fighter -> Knight, Monk -> Karateka, etc. Might as well have just has an expanded roster to choose from and have them promote midgame, like FF1.

Anyone else play this trash heap? I get it was an early game. I played and loved FF1 for the NES. But this game is just bad.

What is different about the DS version of FF3?

What would you guys say is the best version of FF3?
