You never truly realize how crappy Mario 64 is until you play Spyro the Dragon on the PS1 whose console launched almost 2 years earlier. N64 was garbage by comparison but I will concede it was a great party machine with a few good games.

you know your ps2 plays ps1 discs right? If you have a ps2 I fail to see the issue. Just replace or fix it when you have the time if it means that much to you, but there's really no point considering the ps1 loads games so much slower than the ps2.
