I understand your point and in fact, it's true. It makes sense, and I agree with you, but as a player, as someone who has to control the situation, it's difficult to move around, look for secrets and items or stay alert to not get caught by surprisedly some bad guys.

Subjectively, I don't understand why to change the two first game's atmosphere (that was fine, and you were in the middle of some old subterranean ass ruins), by all realistic graphics enhance of the later games.

May we change some scenarios cause of “how they will be irl”? I don't think so. Consider please my picrel, that's from Tomb Raider: Unfinished Business. Lara is somewhere in an Egyptian desert, it's dark (at night) cause you look up and there is nothing more than stars, you look at the background, and it is also dark. BUT, there are some parts that are illuminated, can you see it? These are nothing more than some friendly clues given by the devs that are pointing at “some areas that, maybe, you can consider visiting”.
In game, these “clues” could be interpreted by moonbeams.

Now take this scenario and port it to some >TR3 engine. These would be all pitch black because we are at night.
