I prefer the Sega Saturn controller for most games that do not require analog inputs. I got a cheap Xbox 360 force feedback wheel which has pedals but no shifter, but one day I hope to find a cheap Fanatec one that does. If possible I try to match the game with an appropriate controller with adapters, but for general use the Sega Saturn pad fits me best.

There are a lot of USB controllers shaped like the Sega Saturn pad. However, they may not poll at a high rate, since I think they are USB 1.0 instead of 3.2x2.

There are lots of great controllers, you just have to find ones that suit you and the game best. My favorite is the Sega Saturn pad.

Did the membranes inside tear? It was an issue when I used to overuse Ascii pads on Dreamcast for 3rd Strike.

Why not both?
