You should really just play every Grandia if you felt that way because they're all good - even Xtreme and III - when the soundtrack is your main motivator for getting into them, as Iwadare does an increasingly better job with each one
It's possible Parallel Trippers could be up your alley too if you got attached to the first game's characters and wanted to have most major NPCs as playable party members, but little beyond that as it doesn't have much depth gameplay-wise and being a GBC spinoff means its BGM is all just butchered versions of the original tracks

There's no reason not to play II though, as even though it doesn't play up the adventure aspect as strongly as 1 it's still a great game in its own right
As for the non-/vr/ ones, check out their soundtracks at the very least, Xtreme is incredible in that regard and also does some cool shit with the series' combat in exchange for being basically a dungeon crawler with a piss-poor plot and forgettable characters
Grandia Online's soundtrack is also full of arrangements of the first game's OST, but that's all that's left of it since as far as i'm aware its servers are dead for good

7 years ago, a good friend of mine recommended me to play the first Grandia. I got immersed by the plot and battle system. I heard G2 was better in all regards, but Grandia had a really good impression on me.
