I wish, anon. Read the post again. It's using 86box, not a real PC. I do have a couple old rigs that are pretty competent, but I moved very far away and left them at my folks', and I'm considering having them sell them off since they've been struggling for cash lately.

I remember joining an OoT-centered message board around 1999 when I was about 12 and meeting a bunch of people there. Saria was my favorite character, so when I met someone there with Saria as her screen name, I gravitated toward her. Turned out she was about a year younger than me, and of Korean descent. We ended up chatting a lot on AIM and later MSN Messenger, exchanged pics (yes, she was cute as shit), and overall just became really good friends well after the message board closed down. I remember once we hit our teens, we began talking about perverted shit we did (one time she told me how she bought a vibrator and went too hard with it and somehow hurt herself lol). Talking with her was always the highlight of my day, and my heart would always skip a beat when she logged in.

Sadly, just like in the game, this Saria and I just drifted apart. We began to pursue very different interests, and soon we had little to say to each other of interest. I believe the last time I talked to her was around 2012 or so. I don't have the heart to look her up again after all this time. I suppose this is the nature of growing up.

Pro of living in a third world country: people still see CRTs as shitty old TVs instead of LE EPIC RETRO GAYMEN MONITOR NO TIREKICKERS I KNOW WHAT I HAVE, so they're willing to get rid of them for the equivalent of 10 to 20 burgerbucks, even high-end WEGAs.
Con of living in a third world country: living in a third world country.

I know what 15KHz coil whine is. That's not what I'm referring to. This was a low, buzzing hum.

That said, goddamn, 35 years old and I can still hear that shit.

Oh yeah, the simple wojaks, when it was just the Feels guy, isn't even that bad. Overdone and overplayed, but it at least conveyed something. Soijaks, however, can fuck off to hell.

should be fine for ps2 and wii (maybe other stuff from that gen onwards as well) but don't expect to hook up a saturn on it and not have it look like shit

if you're in EU those things don't do anything above 480i so you can't even hook anything to VGA, you're better off just watching movies in that one and forgetting about the whole retro gaming thing. It's so fucking sad that you can't basically find progressive-scan models in yuroland besides rare shit like >>9155470

that said, if you like watching movies and shows and shit, that tv has colors that are comparable to modern OLEDs at a price tag that's not 1200$, aren't smart tv garbage (smart TVs are absolute hell, i have one and i hate the 'smart' shit it has i just wish it would display images and NOTHING MORE), and are built like a tank. If you so much as glance at some modern high end tv they'll just break and be unrepairable, a CRT will outlive you and when it breaks it'll just need a couple new capacitors and a tactical tap for it to outlive your sons again, sans the phophors physically degrading because time is what it is.

in other words, you'll get use out of your tv, but not for old games. If you want a tv/monitor for those, get a pvm like the meme kids or just grab a 4:3 trinitron from like the 90s (like a KX or KV model or something), or literally any other non-flat crt that exists out there, because nobody had big ass high end TVs back then, they had what their mom bought and it usually was some whatever consumer grade sony if you were lucky or literally anything else with a shadow mask on, and that's what those games were made for anyway. The aperture grille isn't inherently better for games and sometimes inferior to shadow mask. Just buy a fucking tube that's big enough for you with low enough hours and just use that.
It's like buying a car. You can buy a porsche or a ferrari or a lambo but you can get road head on your mom's car and have great memories with it just as fine if not better

One of my biggest /vr/ regrets is seeing one of these at a flea market about 15 years ago or so sitting there in a box of dirty old electronics, and not buying it for the probable pittance they would've asked for. In my defense, however, I didn't know what the fuck it was. I knew it was a console, but I assumed it was just another one of the many failed consoles that came out in the early 90's that no one cares about.

I'll take Bernoulli drive for $500 Alex.

>>1491836
they're expensive on ebay because of shipping, they charge a lot so they can make the shipping look cheap.
Look for one locally, they dont even run for half the ebay cost. Personally I paid $25 dollars for my model 2.

What are the differences between, let's say, a KX-20ps1/27ps1 and a PVM when it comes to the picture quality?
Let's say I have the possibility to get both a KX-20ps1 or a KX-27ps1.
