It's awesome. Once the controller adapter I ordered for my wii arrives I'm replaying the shit out of it.

I myself haven't actually beaten that many games and as a kid didn't play as many games as most people here but every day I find out something new and find out new games to play here.

That's a beautiful way to put it. As long as you're here and willing to learn and accept help you should be just fine.

I really can't think about a lot to be honest, at least ones that weren't mentioned. Doremi Fantasy seems cute but it has a male protagonist so that doesn't quite fit.

Also, not retro but Fortune Summoners and the Summon Night Swordcraft Story series fit your description perfectly.

I liked it but I never see it being mentioned. It's a very fluid game and the difficulty is just right. Not to mention the cute heroine and enemies. All in all it's a very nice way of spending a few hours.
