I've seen a handful of organized, nice set ups that have CRT's. Having a CRT isn't really a good excuse for having your room look like a hobo's trash pile though.

I'm 33 and still manage to keep my setup relatively clean. Granted, I don't have a CRT in my room anymore (I used to, and even when I did my game room wasn't filthy). I do have upscalers for my systems though. My old CRT gave out on me, and I couldn't find one I liked as much.

How does this kind of stuff happen? I keep hearing about people's flat screens and video game consoles just randomly dying on them, but I still have electron equipment from the 90's that's in perfect working order. My 42 inch Samsung plasma TV works as well now as when I got it like 8 years ago. No burn in or shorted components. I also have 32 inch Bestbuy brand plasma that works perfectly as well.

Do you people not take care of your electronics or something? I'll admit, I'm a bit OCD when it comes to electronics and keeping them clean and functional, but damn. I go to friends' houses and stuff, and all their shit is constantly breaking down on them.
