-while on foot you enter different top-down style "dungeons," raid them to collect supplies and fight bosses
-clearing a stage nets you tank upgrades, including ability to hover and climb walls
-explore existing stages with new abilities to progress
-excellent controls
-well designed levels
-bitchin' soundtrack

blaster master.

i love the game to death. gameplay, music, level design, everything. the powerups are fucking awesome and the on-foot maze portions are a blast.

but i'm shit at this game, /vr/. i've never beaten it. i've only gotten to maybe the 5th or 6th level. i die constantly because i can't dodge enemies with the slide-y tank controls. i can't aim the tank's gun or time my shots properly. i get lost. i save state at different stages. i farm gun powerups in the on-foot segments. and i use autofire grenades to kill the bosses.

it's maybe my greatest vidya shame. i will never be good at my favorite NES game.

Wow I thought I was the only one who had that kind of feeling. You have no idea how deep and strange I feel when I think about it. I have a LOT of other game like those.
