Think I've posted this on /vr/ before but early 3D RPGs and/or adventure games with super low draw distance really hit that for me. King's Quest 8, Summoner, Ultima 9 weren't great games but I loved just exploring the worlds

Also, my vote is for Win98 era third person 3D RPGs/Adventure games. They tend to be slower paced due to technical limitations and the relatively short draw distance makes for a more comfy environment. Pic related. Kings Quest 8 wasn't a great game but I loved just wandering around and exploring the environments. Other games that fit the bill are Summoner, Ultima 9, Gothic, etc. Some of these might not be especially good games but I enjoy exploring the environments.
