Holy shit, that's way out of order.

And what, pray tell, is a beef gate?

I have only played the first 6, but 3 is my favourite. It feels like the culmination of the formula of the first two, and kind of ruins me for them.

I enjoy all of them, though. Don't listen to these turds who can't appreciate the classical music, and the simple minds that say that you just press the same button over and over again.

Proper spell use is extremely helpful, the grind is there for younger players who may have difficulty strategizing.

I really like the settings and characters, too, and I am especially fond of the silly humour in the dialog.

Your teammates in DQII are always too weak no matter what version you play. The joke I like to make is, the Prince of Cannock is actually weaker than Princess Moonbrooke. The dedicated spellcaster AND the person you get last. And considering the fanart Cannock gets, it seems even Japan agrees with this.

For the DQ series, the best thing is always defaulting to the remakes. The creators of all the DQ games have been working on the games consistently for the last 25 years. Which includes all the side games and remakes. So the remakes of the games actually add new content and improve the gameplay utilizing concepts from later DQ games.

So in short, the way you should play them is like this:

DQI-III: GBC or SNES (SNES is highly recommended for playing DQII because of a larger view for exploring.)
DQIV-VI: DS Remakes
DQVII: Wait for the 3DS remake
DQVIII: No remake, but the PS2 game is amazing as is
DQIX: No remake, have to play on DS
