I seriously wonder what goes on in the mind of programmers who have been contracted to make licensed games. Have these people had any experience with making games? Do these people know why people play games? And when did western programmers become cheaper to hire than Japanese ones? I'm certain the Japs would've cooked up a zany game about Bill and Ted solving their problems with a card game, and then going through time in a Gyruss type setting while they abuse the everloving fuck out of the DPCM channel.

I always thought the Stadium games were capable of pushing the N64's envelope significantly. For example, the Pokemon look really nice in Stadium 2, especially Steelix, and there's so much spoken dialog for an N64 game. And the framerate wasn't half bad, either, which is impressive given it was the N64.

What I liked the most was how random ass Pokemon, which often times sucked, were capable of being very powerful if they were taught the right moves. I'm not sure if that's thanks to the nature of how Gen 1 worked or if the game indeed cheat.

The arcade game had a giant heart (from the GB game) and the caveman (from the NES game) as the final boss. It's worth noting that he was green in the original game and not orange like in the NES. You had to attack the heart to kill the green guy. The SNES game features the heart, but that seems to be more of a decoration than a boss. The Genesis version is more like the arcade version, but you have to kill both the green guy and the heart. The Game Boy version just has the heart and some random enemies, but unlike the other versions, the previous boss was a skeleton dinorsaur, and you don't walk into it like the others. There's usually a red dinosaur that you have to kill and then walk into. The NES version has the red dinosaur as well, but he blows up instead.

And just what is it with so many retro games having a heart as either a boss or a weakpoint of a boss? That's kinda horrifying in a way.

Well, considering that the Dreamcast controller sends more then just control data though that cable, it makes a bit of sense
