>Are March of the Black Queen and 64 worth playing?
Yes. OB64 is the best game on the N64 in my opinion....however, I also like NBA Hangtime.

Similar type of thing, perhaps more rare. I would guess that someone here has some of these things.

>I thought they were another race of beings in the original Ogre Battle
They may have been, but I don't know. I never played any other version of the game. Having a N64 limited me to enjoy whatever RPG I could. OB64 was just one of the good ones and I was lucky....

But the Angel class requires letting a female character die, and there is a chance she will turn into a zombie....or later in the game if you have equipment into an Angel. The mechanics of some of this stuff is outstanding....The story is 2 dimensional and boring, but the customization of individual characters and units is pretty in depth.

I am no collector. I have some oddities, but nothing with extraordinary value. I also have a Scph 1001 with a pu-8 board. It is the pleasant "in-between" with RCA outputs and no color banding issues that were present in the early releases.

>Hell, the only n64 game I actually want to play is Ogre Battle.
It is quite possibly the best N64 game. I don't lie that my taste in games sucks, but I own a N64 ONLY for Ogre Battle 64 AND NBA hangtime.

I really loved OB64, and its been a long time since I played it. It has been on my short list of things to play again.

>I wish nintendo had used the same plastic that sega did.
Nintendo was well aware of the issue with the SNES, and by the N64 had made changes. There are a few "clear" colors of controllers that float around, and some people claim that they were testing how brittle they are. Black plastic seems to be the best plastic for durability.

I have a clear orange N64, and had a standard black one, which I gave to my sister a few years ago. The orange one has a crack in it, and I don't know how it happened. I may have dropped something on it, but it is odd to me. (pic related/look at the left leg of system)

I do agree with others that it would be nice to have 3rd party replacement shells, but another option:

>>5072820
>buy a broken snes, use its case, problem solved.

This is a great option, but may not fix the problem. The formulations they used for plastics seem to either be inconsistent OR there are wildly different conditions that exist that some people systems crack apart, while others stay ivory white.

>Don't keep your consoles out exposed to direct sunlight, being the major one.
One of my few IRL friends still has his SNES, and It is possibly the best example of a used system ever. He never had it in the sun and by the time science was settled he was well on his way to excellent preservation.

My experience is limited only to the N64 version. We skipped Snes for Sega. I enjoyed the N64 version quite a bit, and beat it a few times. Very enjoyable.

>>are you interested in a N64 Mini?
Yes for a few sideways reasons. I am interested firstly in the controller. If the analog sticks are the same as the real N64, I will be gutting them. Secondly, I am interested to see how they either emulate or run the games. N64 is tricky to emulate, so Id not be shocked to see something that is an actual miniature N64. If it is emulated, I would love to see how that helps the modding community.

IF they make them, Id love it if it was just small hardware and supported carts. Internal storage w/online connectivity....basically just a custom wii running with n64 hardware. Online gameplay of some of the first party stuff could be amazing. Is it possible to offer more ram to games to help them with frame rates? I hope they make something bad ass, because the last 2 mini systems did not get me to purchase...I did buy an SNES mini controller for my wii....

I honestly hope they simply skip this however. Really. They could screw it up really really bad.

>When I can play the same game through piracy for free I see no reason to keep them around when I can use the money for other things.
I have been converting to Systems that run from modded hard drives. My reason for getting rid of games was due to a pipe failure at a "new" home and involved human waste ruining most of my PSX and PC big box collection. It pushed my hand into digital storage. Lucky for me, I gave most of my N64 games (40+) to my little sister a few years back for christmas...it was before the values shot up. She technically has every expensive N64 game ever. I did managed to keep 2 I really liked....NBA hangtime & pic related. I refused to give up Ogre battle.

>t: Frustrated collector

Gamers and collectors have different mentalities for games. One can be both however....BUT if you are a collector first, You place value over quality. Value and quality are subjective, but one requires physical media. You can brag about your plastic garbage prices, but it won't stop someone from playing a game Systems + flash carts are starting to effect supply and demand & are a great way to enjoy a game on its native system without being held hostage financially. Flash carts are really impressive actually. I just got an Everdrive64 this week finally, and am quite impressed. I would own one even if I was still "collecting" and am pondering giving it to my sister in exchange for all my physical media. I am a gamer first and foremost, and have no intention on selling anything....so values are irrelevant.

Lots of games sucked on both consoles, but one of the ways I always looked at it, was that Sony made game consoles, and Nintendo made a product that played video games. Both are similar, but Nintendo is almost a sub-set within the genre. It is an odd way to look at it, but Sony competes, and Nintendo just makes whatever they want. Both were excellent in their own right. I am not a Nintendo fanboy, as I like both system equally. If I was trapped on a desert island with my crt tv, and given the choice, I don't know which I would take. They both have their own merits. Nintendo had the fan following and support, and PSX was new to the market and created something from nothing. I used the N64 in group settings for Goldeneye or MK64, but when I wanted a deep RPG I would use my PSX. Not that N64 didn't have RPGs or that PSX was not a good party system....Just that they were different systems for different audiences. I could cherry pick this and that as a comparison, but there is no clear answer. One did some things better then the other and vice versa. Saturn was good at some things, but we could have done with out it, and I doubt anyone would notice. Load times sucked, but so did smaller carts. Both made the best of their pitfalls.

I've pondered getting a box for this game, but its not really all that valuable. I think the value is in the collection. I had a HUGE collection of n64 games and a few years back I gifted it to my sister....It had every one of the 40 top n64 games + black system and all accessories. She really made out. Everyone in my family has an N64, and uses it daily....Including mom.
