Gimmick on NES. There's nothing to fucking talk about here, everyone knows about it already. Lovely game.

Finding and playing this game as an adult was the first time since I was maybe 6 years old that a game utterly shocked me with wonder. I fell in love with it. The graphics are utterly beautiful, everything that moves is gorgeously animated and adorably designed. Each cartridge of the game actually had its own sound card installed for 16-bit audio, and the resulting sound design is amazing in every way, with great music, audio cues and sound effects. The gameplay, however, has more of a niche and acquired following, as you have an odd momentum and weight, slopes are very common and VERY slippery, platforming and bosses can be painstakingly difficult at times and your only attack can be hard to master. Even still, once you get the hang of things, it's easy to love most things about the gameplay and to respect the learning curve that it presents.

I understand that this game is shitposted enough here as it is, but it may very well be my favorite game of all time. Please, PLEASE play this game, look up longplays or even just screenshots of it if you are not sold by my recommendation.

Gimmick! is just incredible. Great music and art direction, very fun star gameplay mechanic, challenging if you go for the good ending, overall excellent.
