I'm literally doing this at the moment, I've switched smartphones recently and I can't really sell my old one for much, I could make a little money, but very little... so I'm turning it into a full time handheld emulation station, all I need is a controller.

Not that I know of, the closest you can get are the ones with the Wii U style, where it's symmetrical, but the analog sticks are on top, still it's better for 2D than assymetrical sticks, from the top of my head there's the MOCUTE-060, the IPEGA PG-9167 and the Razer Jungle Cat, if you want an actual controller though, there's the IPEGA PG-9017s too.

Well, they are good for turning your phone into a handheld with the same form factor as a Switch or PS Vita, so they have their purpose and are good if you already have an old smartphone laying around without much use.
