I also recommend a playthrough of Simon's Quest. You may need a guide to point you in the right direction sometimes because the game is so badly translated. But I replayed it a year ago or so and was amazed how well it still holds up. It's a ton of fun.

Demon's Crest on SNES is also pretty great.

If can, get your hands on the Japanese version of Silhouette Mirage. Working Designs "re-balanced" the game when they ported it and essentially destroyed it in the process, turning into a grindy mess. The original is a fucking blast though
