People got retarded with the PVM meme but if you want to play on the original hardware they're pretty mandatory, just try hooking an N64 to a modern TV.

Your alternative here is emulation but beyond accuracy issues you're not going to get the same experience.

You could also say that running the game native resolution with an advanced CRT filter is pretty close but LCD technology will never be able to accurately replicate an electron beam shooting at phosphor dots.

I got far worse input latency with Shadow Warrior DOSBox (to the extent that I found it unplayable) than with Blood DOSBox. Guess that means Shadow Warrior runs at 35fps and this is really how it ran on original hardware.
