It has some pretty good fighting games, especially that marvel vs capcom one, but eh, it's still not that much more impressive than the Game Boy, which also had some pretty good fighting games (Real Bout Special, KOF 95/96). In the end it has a very tiny library and not a lot of variety either.

There are good fighting game conversions for the Game Boy, SFII just isn't one of them.
Also, there's worse alternatives, like Amiga (with just 1 button) or >>6198242

Except a vast majority of them came with SGB capabilities once the SGB was released.
Some fighting games like pic related even allowed multiplayer VS without with 1 cart, something you couldn't do on the GB.

handheld SNK ports were generally the best handheld fighting games around.
Fatal Fury and KOF on Game Boy were pretty well done.
