The N64 has nearly 0 RPGs, but damn, it sure got one of the best I've ever played.

I remember when it came out, it didn't draw my attention: I was 13 at the time, and PM looked too kiddy for me (actually, I was never a "mature games" faggot, I still played Smash bros., Zelda and other Nintendo games, but PM just never caught my attention). I also remember thinking that the flat sprites were kind of bland... mostly, I judged a book by its cover.

Now, as an adult, I'm playing this for the first time and enjoying it a lot. The visuals are extremely creative and well done. Mario is both cool and cute, everything is so fucking cute, but cool at the same time. Granted, it has the aesthetics of a pop-up children story book, but the writing is intelligent (pun intended) and I find myself smiling or giggling all the time with all the quirky dialogues and healthy but smart humor. I never thought I'd actually enjoy a story-driven Mario game. All the characters are interesting and unpredictable, and even if the plot is the classic Peach got kidnapped again, it's not the main plot what matters, but all the little dialogues and events that unite the plot.
