I love this one.

In the UK, handguns aren't legal for a regular person to own, however, blackpowder handguns, (specifically guns which use loose blackpowder without metallic cartridges, both antiques, and replicas of antiques), are available legally on a blackpowder license, now, this was conceived for muzzle-loading pistols and cap & ball revolvers.

Pic related is a cap & ball revolver in all senses that matter, instead of percussion caps, it uses shotgun primers, you still load loose blackpowder, and then .357 caliber lead bullets (and then a wad or grease). With all chambers loaded, you have for all practical purposes, a modern double-action revolver for the next six or seven shots.

There's a company in the UK which specializes in making these, they import cheap Armscor revolvers in .38 caliber, without the cylinder, and they then retrofit the guns to accept detachable cap & ball cylinders.

I love it when people skirt gunlaws in brilliant ways.
