How awesome is this game seriously it needs its own thread because I don't see it getting enough praise around here. I never played any of the games as a kid but damn was I missing out they are awesome. Turrican thread I guess. Also tell me some games that are like turrican like rendering ranger. gunlord etc.

Agreed, the C64 SID is one of the best soundchip ever made. However, i admit that the MSX's FM pack and Konami's SCC are pretty impressive too. Well, as alway, Computer music is pretty cool in general:

Mega Turrican.
Disturbingly fun, if not feeling quite similar to Super Metroid, due to the roping around everywhere. Still alot of fun, comes off as a cross between a shmup and metroidvania.

You should try Turrican, it's easy to handle and challenging from the first to the last level. Also, it's available on a fuckload of platforms, from the Speccy to the SNES, (the C64 and the Amiga versions being the best)

Well, I'm not saying the contrary, just that the C64 have more of them, maybe not in the US, but in Yurop, it's the case.

Anyway, let's talk about games. Turrican anyone? I heard that Chris Hülsbek and some orchestra released a symphonic version of Turrican's OST.
