>CTO: I think I may have a solution. In Europe they have a connector called SCART. It's big. Real big, and can do all sorts of things.

>CTO: Well, it can carry composite video in and out simultaneously for VCRs and such. It can automatically switch on connected devices and select the appropriate input when those devices are switched on. It can also work in reverse to switch on and configure the TV when a connected device is powered on. It could be used in the future to configure the TV for different aspect ratios when fed an appropriate signal. It also has support for RGB and enough pins left over to accommodate future signal standards. I hear Matsushita is developing an enhanced VHS standard using separate luminance and chrominance signals. Rumour is it will be called Super Video and we need to future proof. This connector could make out sets the envy of the world.

Kinda pathetic and doesn't excuse not offering RGB whatsoever, even with some new type of connector.

Also, RCA was quite happy to use SCART, they just limited it to composite only kek.

Europe has readily available RGB while america doesn't because RCA said so.
