>3&K has the best level design of the classics
Nah, too many shitty gimmicky setpieces like the tops you have to ride on in Marble Garden, the pulleys in Mushroom Hill, those floating ring things in Death Egg, barrels in Carnival Night, everything about Sandopolis (Act 2), the list goes on...

Best Sonic games in terms of level design are 2, then 1, then CD, then 3+K dead last.

Since you're just going to reassert your stance instead of substantiating it, I'm going to restate my previous post at that refutes this stance outright
The end kana of "hydro" is ロ, which is shared with the second kana of velocity
>ベ ロ シティ
This is what makes it a pun, you're combining two words with a matching sound. Emphasis on matching.
By asserting that
>you can definitely pronounce hydrocity in a way that sounds like velocity
You're ignoring the core element of the pun, the ロ sound. By changing the ロ sound in "hydro", it's no longer a pun. This is why I said
>we pronounce velocity as /vəˈlɑsəti/ (ベ ラ シティ) and not /vəˈloʊsəti/ (ベ ロ シティ)
>[In Japanese, velocity is spelled] ベ ロ シティ, not ベ ラ シティ
Because trying to say hydrocity as velocity means intentionally mispronouncing "hydro" as "hydra". By saying "hydra" instead, you're replacing the core element of the pun, the ロ sound, making the pun not work as it did before.

Even if you're pronouncing the stage as a Japanese person would (/ˈhaidroʊsəti/), it still doesn't sound as /vəˈlɑsəti/ does, so it isn't a pun there, either. That's why it's "lost in translation", because the pun was built from Japanese pronunciation.

Also hydrocity is not a word to describe hydration. That word is called hydration. Go learn to read kana and this won't be confusing for you anymore

I never claimed they were two words, that was a false inference on your part. The fact I didn't put a bullet or space between ハイドロシティ would indicate that. Furthermore, I don't even disagree that the name is a pun. My issue is pronunciation, which is plainly spelled out on page 31. Since using shitty phonetic approximations isn't clarifying, I'm now going to use the International Phonetic Alphabet to more clearly indicate what miscommunication is happening.

ロ is "ɾo̞", never pronounced "ɾa̠" unless it's an informal accent, which is the equivalent of mispronouncing a word, be it stylistically or because you're an idiot (or both). That said,

ベロシティ (be̞ ɾo̞ ɕi tʲi)
ハイドロシティ(ha̠ i do̞ ɾo̞ ɕi tʲi)

Notice how neither of those have a "ɾa̠" sound in there? That's because you don't pronounce it with one. If you want to make this extra shitty by maintaining the pun in the name, you would have to pronounce "hydro city" like there's no space. "Hy-drocit-y (ˈhaiˌdroʊ'siti)". Isn't that so much better? Aren't you glad we bicker over whether or not the title of a level in a video game being one word or two is a quantifiably valuable localization rather than simply saying "hydro city" colloquially as English speakers whom should care more about being able to pronounce the name as written rather than attempt to recreate a pun that doesn't phonetically appear in English? You know, because we pronounce velocity as "vəˈlɑsəti" and not "vəˈloʊsəti"?

Atari was not only incompetent, but just downright evil. They didn't develop shit past the 5200, they outsourced all of their console development to old European computer companies that were in a bad spot financially. Jack Tramiel preyed on their talent and desperation, and basically let every Atari-branded system die because he was a greedy piece of shit. Sega doesn't even come close.

The 7800 release was pushed back because Jack Tramiel didn't want to pay the company who designed the console. Atari's support for the system died because they were litigating over who was responsible for its fucked launch.
The Lynx was created by Epyx, and Jack forced the company to make Lynx games for them for literally no money. Epyx would get a cut of the sales, but nobody bought a Lynx or many games for the fucking thing. Atari basically cannibalized a group of talented developers and forced them to make gimped ports of early 80s Atari arcade games.
The Jaguar had a shit design that would make it so that it wouldn't turn on if the contact from the console to the cartridge wasn't perfect. The system had an exposed PCB, and the games could only be like 4 megabytes max. Flare gave Atari the designs for the system and Atari shit out a half-baked box with exposed parts and a number pad on the controller.

So watch a playthrough, you could even forgo gaming altogether and watch movies instead. It's just as fulfilling, and you wouldn't have to worry about losing ever again.

You could also stare at a wall. That's also "spending free time"

The only assumption that happened is you assuming I used comparatives. What I actually said was regarding how new, "better" experiences aren't particularly attractive to a classic gamer because these old games are *still effective entertainment.* That doesn't dismiss the value of the new, and there is nothing wrong with enjoying an older game when there are objectively better choices *because* it is still enjoyable; I know a modern RPG would technically be an objectively better experience because it's pretty and the music is fully orchestrated and all that guff, yet that doesn't devalue the experience you can still have with a text adventure as they engage your imagination differently (imho more) and you can put on whatever background music you want. It is still effective as an adventure game and as entertainment, so long as you can appreciate the now-antiquated design within the context it existed.

It's like watching silent films. They may not be as impressive outside of their intended venue, but you can still appreciate them for what they are and not what they lack (like aural dialog).

If you wanted aural dialog, what are you doing watching silent films?
