It's why I linked that image, that was the most common depiction of Diglett at the time. The "anime art" wasn't used as often in promotional material as the Sugimori watercolor images, so while this image of Diglett existed it was overtaken by 3D models, actual appearances in the anime, and even the the Trading Card Game showing it with some level of depth. It's such a bizarrely sheltered question to ask with the way Pokemania was strangleholding the audience at the time.
