OP

Why the fuck would you spend so much money and not do something to check if that shit is real?

What the fuck would be a reason to spend $125 a fucking game without a box or anything other than a cart? That's just stupid collecting.

This is a good thread OP.

I LOVED the game gear port of Samurai Shodown when I was growing up. My friend had a Game Gear and lent it to me a bunch of times. I loved the Neo Geo version at the arcades, but really liked this home port the best. One friend got the SNES version and it wasn't that great (the Genesis one was pretty good though).

I don't know what it was but the Game Gear one was just a bunch of fun. I also loved the Game Boy Mortal Kombat 1 port . It was stupid fun playing as goro with the cheat code and the chiptune music was great.

Since every Neo Geo Port before the Saturn was a downgrade, which games were ported that people like on other consoles? World Heroes 2 on SNES was really good - just more balanced and fun to play.

I want to talk about the Neo Geo!

Quick summary for anyone not acclimated to this system: In the early 90's, the gaming company SNK was making numerous arcade games and decided to make a home system with the exact arcade hardware they used. The games were perfect 1 to 1 ports, but the system was $600 and game carts ranged from $200 to $300 EACH.

SNK made many famous series including King Of Fighters, Samurai Shodown, Fatal Fury, and Metal Slug, among others.

A Neo Geo CD console was released in 1994 to bring down the cost of games, but due to limited RAM and a slow CD Drive, the load times for many games were horrific.

The Neo Geo is also known for it's insane fan base. A copy of Kizuna Encounter (a subpar fighting game on the neo geo) sold for over $10,000 as it only had about 10 copies printed outside of Japan and was very rare. TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for a mediocre game.

Anyway, what are your favorite games on this system? Which games are mediocre? Does anyone here actually play these games outside of emulation? I still see arcade cabinets of Neo Geo here and there at various places.

I think Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves is the pinnacle of Neo Geo gaming. Great fighting system, great characters, beautiful game, final bosses that are hard but not impossible, easy to understand super system (every characters super move is qcf, qfc and one of the four buttons), and a decent story line.
