It's comfortable for the same reason sleeping on rainy days it's comfortable, it's usually colder and has that sound of rain outside, which is relaxing, I personally adore to cover myself on a mattress, a hot chocolate by my side, and some video games, it's nice, you should give it a shot at some point...

Well, it is... sort of. It's not really a launcher, as in if you have the standalone emulators already in your PC it'll simply start them up, that'd be more of a frontend, kind of like LaunchBox and stuff, I suppose RetroArch still qualifies as a frontend, but it is it's own thing to, it's essentially a way to have multiple emulators, called "cores" here, on the same software, so if you have no emulators on your PC, if you install RetroArch and go into its core downloader, you'll get options for literal dozens of emulators to download within RetroArch, and once you do, you can have universal settings for all of them, and switch between them seamlessly, which is the whole appeal really, it's also the easiest way to use shaders overall. I definitely recommend it, anon.

Well, if you believe the USA is the only country that matters, then perhaps nothing any of us says can convince you, but it's still something worth talking about. While the Master System lost in both the USA and Japan, which were the main markets, and the reason why the NES was so superior in overall sales, the Master System still had its fans there, and most of all it was a big deal in South America and Europe, where it sold a lot more than the NES. Still, these are consoles which are about 35 years old by now, engaging in things like console wars made sense when we were kids and could only have one of them, but now we can have both, either by buying them or emulating, so we should cherish both systems for being stellar and having good libraries.

I honestly like the short length of retro video games, mostly 8-Bit and 16-Bit, because while they were usually between 15 minutes to 1 hour long, you never did it in your first sitting, I mean, it's not impossible, but rare, because they were difficult and a lot of the time you wouldn't know what to do and how to proceed, so you did get a lot of playtime, even if it was replaying the same stages, you didn't do it the same way, you'd progressively get better in the earlier stages, while always trying to find new strategies and approaches to the later stages where you'd usually lose in.

All of this journey would eventually lead to the point where you'd have mastered the run, and every time you pick up this title again in the future you'll be able to beat it in one sitting, and it feels fun, mastering something which used to give you so much trouble, seeing yourself breezing through it, I mean, everytime you're bored and have an hour to spare you know that you can pick it up, and won't have to drop it off in the middle and finish it later, you'll probably finish it in that spare hour, they make for condensed, but complete experiences that don't overstay their welcome at all.

I know this might be an odd question, but it's interesting seeing everyone's perspectives and preferences here. What I mean is that, when you're playing a video game, what are your preferences for completion? Do you usually just finish the main story or do you go for doing everything and getting 100% completion? When difficulty settings are available, do you prefer to play on the easiest, the one in the middle, or the hardest one? Do you go for the hardest one right away or do you prefer to do them in order? I personally try to do all difficulty settings and 100% completion.

Another thing I feel could be interesting to discuss is, do you believe that there is a right way to beat a video game? You know, when you hear people say that if you didn't beat it a certain way then you didn't really beat it at all, that there is a proper way to do it. I usually draw the line at cheat codes and save states/rewind, I feel anything more than that is a little overboard, an any% run on the default difficulty counts as beating it for me, also it doesn't matter much because it's just a hobby and anyone can play how they like, I even use save states sometimes, just don't find it legit.
