I actually never owned a Sega console but they ruled the arcades when I was a kid. I still remember the first time I saw the sit down Space Harrier cab, it looked like the future. And I don’t ever remember a single peer ever expressing partisanship over the two companies, beyond the marketing hype such rivalries always felt like more of a micro computer thing (c64 vs apple ii; amiga vs atari st; mac vs ibm pc compatibles)
