Thoughts on the mysterious pink character called "Rastafari" from Sonic 3? Why does she hate Sonic so much?

Knuckles should have remained a mysterious Sonic rival with his original codename "Rastafari" and retain his original fuchsia fur instead of the red one from S&K.

I feel sorry for all the nu-Sonic fans who never got to experience the days when "Rastafari" was the new Sonic antagonist, and all the kino from playing Sonic 3 when it initially came out, having Knuckles as only an enemy (only playable on multiplayer), and then subsequently being able to both FINALLY fight him and play as him on Sonic & Knuckles.
The waiting months between 3 and S&K were crucial in building up expectation, people who just played 3&K from the get go without experiencing the stand alone games don't know.
