While I also prefer the NES version over DS, there's only a few things wrong with the DS version. Party Talk being taken out of the Western versions, the added chapter wrecks the overall story, though it's optional to play, and the wonky translation (Necrosaro > Psaro the Manslayer)

But, it cuts down on the grinding, which is a plus IMO for anybody new to Dragon Quest.
