You cant play higher difficulties like you do in doom, they are designed for punishment and co-op play. If you want a challenge just go with the 3rd difficulty but I think even 2nd difficulty will yield the same number of monsters.

More than likely you're going to have an absolute overflow of ammunition if you're using stuff right. If you're overloaded with flares the pistol has an unrealistic devastating altfire attack.

The fun begins when you get the Napalm Launcher, its altfire is almost useless but you dont need it for that.

You have several types of Dynamite switched by pressing the weapon number. Thats what the two icons in the lower right of the status bar are for. Also standard Dynamite explodes on impact and has a rather tight blast radius so it requires skill, altfire is a long fuse delay.

Pic related is how a few of the maps in Blood actually remind me of shit in Quake 1, if used properly the build engine can really make some good stuf.
