Q1 is alive and Well, Q2 has slavs, q2cafe and tasty keeping the game alive, but recently there it was a small boom for it thanks to Quakewulf who is probably lurking here again, check his maps also anons posting here the old quake 2 websites with maps and modding which are really damn good.

Q3 is dead, RTCW and MOHAA idk, those games seems to hate widescreen unless there is a sourceport.
i kinda wish to see Maps for both
