Fun? Preference? I enjoy the Fighter but less than the Mage and Cleric.

Now that I think about it, it might be the hand casted spells the other two have that the Fighter doesn't. Frost Shards, Arc, and Firestorm are some of my favorite weapons the genre.

Some of the bosses and guns were certainly cool indeed, but there were just too many to have any idea where to go with it and it was overwhelming.

I remember some of the guns especially seemed greatly done though the biggest thing AEOD had was knowing the threat of monsters, there were just too many kinds and they'd usually all infight as well. Especially if they were meant to be large swarms of the same monster.

The only one I'd consider bad in Hexen is the Cleric's mace, otherwise every other weapon is completely viable and even good. While the fists are good, they pale in comparison to the axe in every regard. As to how it compares with the hammer, the fists can't be used at range nor does it do splash damage.

I beat the game once with just the fists, shit was fun. Especially when you use the boots of speed and zip around like a manic pummeling everything in sight.
